Linkshänder-Gitarren-Tasche -- Guitar-shaped bag, left-handed

So, das ist also meine Handtasche in Gitarren-Form.

Sie ist nicht ganz so, wie ich zuerst geplant hatte. Alles fing damit an, dass meine Handtaschen immer so groß sein müssen, dass ein Schreibblock reinpasst. Hätte ich mich daran gehalten, hätte die Tasche das Format einer richtigen ausgewachsenen Gitarre gehabt. Also habe ich den Schnitt ungefähr dreimal verkleinert, bis Alles meiner relativen Körpergröße angepasst war.

Dabei stellte ich fest, dass ich meine Tasche auf der linken Seite trage und mein Schnitt deswegen aus Versehen eine Linkshänder-Gitarren-Tasche war. Das Problem ist wohl nicht zu lösen, also beschloss ich, dass es egal ist. (Noch egaler, wenn man bedenkt, dass ich Linkshänder bin)

So, this is my guitar-shaped handbag.

It didn't turn out quite the way I'd planned. At first, it was supposed to be big enough to fit a writing pad in, like all my handbags have to be. Had I kept to that, the bag would've been the size of a real, fully-grown guitar. So I scaled the pattern down about three times until everything was relative to my height.

Doing that, I realised that I wear my handbag on the left side and, accidentally, had made a pattern for a left-handed-guitar-shaped bag. Since I can't solve that problem I decided that it doesn't matter. (Even more so since I actually am left-handed)

Die Tasche zusammenzusetzen ist ziemlich einfach. Dummerweise habe ich irgendwo einen Fehler gemacht und das Innenfutter ist im Bogen ein Stückchen zu klein (Das fiel mir auf, als ich fertig war), deswegen ist alles ein bisschen verzerrt. Das Schwierige an der ganzen Sache ist den Gurt zu befestigen (der unter Anderem aus meinem alten Gitarren-Gurt besteht), was mich zwei Nadeln und noch mehr Nerven gekostet hat.

Putting the bag together is quite simple. In my foolishness I made a mistake somewhere and the lining is a bit too small around the bend (which I realised when I was done), so everything is slightly distorted. The trickiest thing is fastening the strap (consisting, among other things, of my old guitar-strap), which cost me two needles and even more nerves.

Bis jetzt habe ich die Tasche noch nicht benutzt, aber schon Lust, noch eine zu machen, diesmal aber ein bisschen anders …

I haven't worn the bag yet but I already feel like making another different one …

Als Mensch mit unzähmbaren Haaren brauchte ich irgendwann ein paar Hilfsmittel, um die Kontrolle zu behalten. Ich hatte folgende Möglichkeiten: Haargummis (Haare zu kurz), Haarreifen (davon kriege ich Kopfweh), gekaufte Haarbänder (langweilig und zu instabil). Also: Haarbänder selber machen!

Being a person with hair that can't be tamed, I needed some tools to keep control over it. I had the following options: hair ties (hair too short), plastic headbands (give me headaches), headbands from a shop (boring and not sturdy enough). So, it was “Make your own headband”-time!

Mein 1. Versuch war dieses schwarze Ding hier. Es besteht aus zwei Streifen von einem alten T-Shirt, Nieten zum Schrauben, einem Stück Pappe und Flüssigkleber. Den Kleber kann man sich sogar sparen, weil die Nieten Alles zusammenhalten. Es ist so lang, dass man es problemlos zusammenknoten kann. Dieses Frühwerk leidet allerdings unter zwei Problemen: 1. Es ist nicht unbedingt bürotauglich, 2. Die Pappe würde sich beim ersten Wassertropfen auflösen. (Ich gehöre zu den Menschen, die im Regen nass werden, weil sie keinen Schirm dabeihaben)

My first attempt was this black thing. It's made of two strips of fabric from an old t-shirt, screw-fastened rivets (or are they called studs, as in “studded belt”?), a piece of cardboard and liquid glue. The glue could be left out, since the rivets hold everything together. It's long enough to be tied up easily. This early work suffers from two major drawbacks, though: 1. It's not exactly office-safe, 2. The cardboard would dissolve at first contact with a drop of water. (I'm one of those people who actually get wet when it's raining, because they don't carry an umbrella)

Irgendwann dann dieser 2. Versuch. Wieder besteht es aus einem Streifen Stoff, haufenweise Flüssigkleber, einer Sicherheitsnadel und, das Wichtigste, einem Streifen Plastik von einer PET-Flasche. Allerdings ist auch diese Version nicht besonders haltbar.

After a while, I made this second attempt. Again, it's made of a strip of fabric, boatloads of liquid glue, a safety pin and, most importantly, a strip of plastic from a bottle. Unfortunately, this version isn't very durable, either.

 

Also musste ich da doch mit der Nähmaschine dran und das hier ist dabei rausgekommen. Ich habe diesmal auch daran gedacht, die Ecken des Plastikstreifens rund zu schneiden und alle Kanten abzuschleifen, damit nichts durchkommt. Auch hier braucht man Kleber, damit der Plastik nicht verrutscht, wenn man den Stoff auf rechts dreht und überhaupt. Vielleicht fällt mir ja irgendwann ein, wie man es komplett ohne Kleber hinkriegt. Und unsichtbar.

PS: Die Arbeit an der Gitarren-Handtasche schreitet voran :)

So, I had to sew after all, in the end, and this is the result. I even remembered to round off the corners of the plastic strip and sand all edges so they won't push through. But glue was needed here as well, to keep the plastic from sliding out of place when turning the fabric to the right side and after that, too. Maybe I'll have an idea some day on how to do it entirely without any glue. And invisible.

PS: The guitar-shaped handbag is taking shape :)
